Limited Edition

« Back to Glossary Index

A Limited Edition is a set number of identical artworks made from one source. Each piece is numbered and signed by the artist. This makes it unique and exclusive.

Limited editions are different from open editions, which can be made endlessly. They are more affordable than one-of-a-kind pieces but still special.

What makes a limited edition exciting for collectors is this balance of exclusivity and accessibility. Knowing that only a specific number of copies exist, and that each one has been personally approved and signed by the artist, makes it truly interesting. It’s a fantastic way to own a piece of fine art or a print that holds particular value because of its finite quantity, offering a tangible connection to the artist’s vision within the broader art market.
